Who is responsible for your information?
Mechanic24hr is responsible for the personal information it processes through this website and its garage services. Contact us at admin@mechanic24hr.ie, telephone 01 808 1443, or Unit 9, Bellevue Industrial Estate, Tolka Valley Rd, Finglas, Dublin 11, Ireland.
Information we handle
Depending on the service you use, this includes your name, email, phone number and address; account identifiers; vehicle registration and vehicle details; booking, repair and service history; orders, invoices, payment references and refund records; correspondence, uploaded documents and information entered into our forms. Fleet administration can also involve driver, licence, vehicle-assignment, payment and expiry records. Job applications contain the information and documents you choose to submit.
Account providers and payment services process sign-in and payment information. We do not ask you to email card details. Technical services can process IP addresses, browser information and security logs. We may receive information from you, your account provider, authorised staff, earlier service records and people arranging a service on your behalf.
Why we use information and the legal bases
- Requests, quotes, bookings, repairs and orders: to take steps you request before a contract and perform our contract with you. For a company booking or another person's vehicle, legitimate interests may apply to necessary contact and service administration.
- Payments, receipts and accounting: contract performance and applicable legal obligations, including tax and accounting requirements.
- Security, fraud prevention, service administration and legal claims: legitimate interests in protecting customers and the business, subject to your rights, or applicable legal obligations.
- Recruitment: steps before a potential employment contract and legitimate interests in assessing applications.
- Optional analytics and embedded maps: your consent, managed separately through Cookie settings.
- Marketing: where used, an appropriate lawful basis and any consent required by electronic-marketing rules. Booking or cookie acceptance is not permission for unrelated marketing.
Information marked as required is needed to handle the relevant service; without it we may be unable to respond, book work or process an order. Optional fields are not required. Do not include unnecessary medical, identity or other sensitive information in free-text fields. Where a service genuinely requires special-category or criminal-offence information, additional legal conditions and safeguards are needed; contact our privacy address before providing information you are unsure is required.
Who may receive information?
Authorised staff and service providers receive information needed for their role. Services used by the website include Replit for application hosting and related infrastructure, Clerk for customer authentication, Stripe for payment processing, Resend and our mailbox provider for email, and Google for requested address/routing services and optional Maps or Analytics. Delivery orders may require contact and address details to be shared with the carrier, such as DPD. Depending on your request, information may also be shared with insurers, professional advisers or authorities where required or justified by law.
Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Applicable arrangements need a valid transfer mechanism, such as an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses with necessary supplementary safeguards. Contact admin@mechanic24hr.ie for information about the arrangements applicable to your data. We do not claim that an EU-only hosting location covers all third-party processing.
How long information is kept
Retention depends on the purpose, the service relationship, statutory accounting duties, warranty or complaint handling and legal claims. Information should not be kept longer than necessary. Financial records may need to be retained even when an account is closed or erasure is requested. A category-specific retention schedule is under review; no blanket automatic deletion has been introduced. Contact our privacy address for the retention criteria applicable to your records.
Your rights and how to make a request
You may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability where applicable, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Consent can be withdrawn without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal. Rights are not absolute; for example, tax obligations or legal claims may require certain records to remain.
Email admin@mechanic24hr.ie with your request. Give enough information to locate your records, such as the email used or a booking reference, but do not send passwords or card details. We may ask for proportionate identity verification to protect your information. The normal response deadline is one month, subject to the extensions and exceptions permitted by law; where an extension applies, you must be informed within the initial month.
You can complain to Ireland's Data Protection Commission. You do not have to contact us first to exercise that right.
Cookies, optional services and automated processing
See our Cookie Policy. You can at any time. Essential cart, account and payment functions do not depend on optional analytics or maps consent.
Service automation includes availability, routing and payment checks. Contact us if you need an explanation or human assistance with a decision affecting your service. If you choose a feature that uses AI assistance, avoid entering unnecessary personal or sensitive information.
